Mrs. Johnie Fillyaw Tuck, 95, a life­long res­i­dent of Cov­ing­ton, passed away March 27 at Mer­ry­vale As­sisted Liv­ing. The daugh­ter of the late John Sa­muel and An­nie Coody Fillyaw, she was born in the Al­covy Com­mu­nity of New­ton County in 1917. Mrs. Tuck was a de­vout Chris­tian and life­long mem­ber of First Bap­tist Church of Cov­ing­ton, a lov­ing wife, mother, grand­mother, great-grand­mother and friend who en­joyed spend­ing time with her fam­ily, read­ing and trav­el­ing. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band Mr. Hol­land Briscoe Tuck in 2003.

Mrs. Tuck is sur­vived by her daugh­ters and sons-in­law Anne and A.J. Spillers and Fran and Buddy Brown all of Cov­ing­ton; grand­chil­dren Tom and Patty Spillers, Lance and Sangmi Spillers, Trey Brown and Ti­mothy Brown; great-grand­chil­dren Sophia Brown and Ma­son Brown. She is also sur­vived by many nieces, neph­ews, other fam­ily and close friends.

Fu­neral ser­vices for Mrs. Tuck will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs­day, March 29, at First Bap­tist Church of Cov­ing­ton with the Rev. Len Strozier of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Cov­ing­ton City Ceme­tery. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. to­day, March 28 at the fu­neral home.
