Wheeler Fu­neral Home

Ray El­lis Thacker of Cov­ing­ton passed away March 25 at his res­i­dence. The son of Nor­man Hill and Ola May Har­vey Thacker, he was born in 1925 in Cov­ing­ton. He re­tired from Fort Gil­liam af­ter 37 ½ years of ser­vice and then opened Ray and Son Lawn Mower Re­pair. He loved his fam­ily and en­joyed help­ing his fam­ily and friends.

Mr. Thacker is sur­vived by his wife of 63 years Joyce Cochran Thacker of Cov­ing­ton; son Ron­nie and Kathy Thacker of Cov­ing­ton; daugh­ter Linda Ann Spivey of Florida; grand­son Chet Thacker of Cov­ing­ton; grand­daugh­ters Ronda Brand of Cov­ing­ton, Erica Thacker of Cov­ing­ton, Christie Thacker of Cov­ing­ton; great-grand­chil­dren Jonathon Jack- son, Chel­cie Jack­son, Ash­ley Brand, Matthew Brand; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews; spe­cial neigh­bor and friend John Cross. He is pre­ceded in death by par­ents Nor­man Hill Thacker and Ola Mae Thacker, brother Edgar Thacker.

Ser­vices will be held at 2 p.m. to­day March 28, in the chapel of Wheeler Fu­neral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Lock­ett of­fi­ci­at­ing. Guests may sign the on­line reg­is­ter book atwww.wheel­er­fu­ner­al­home.com.
