East Side Scot­tish JROTC awards honors lo­cal stu­dents

The an­nual East Side Scot­tish JROTC awards cer­e­mony was held Thurs­day, March 22 at Golden Fleece Ma­sonic Lodge.

East Side Scot­tish Rite Pres­i­dent Joel Knight was happy with the at­ten­dance and said, “We are proud of our com­mu­nity, proud of our stu­dents in our high schools and look for­ward each year to rec­og­niz­ing out­stand­ing JROTC Cadets on the East Side of At­lanta.”

Award win­ners cho­sen for the Out­stand­ing Achieve­ments and Es­says were as fol­lows:

De’asha Watts from New­ton High School, Deanna L. Holmes from Salem High School, Joseph Kim from Her­itage High School, Ben­jamin Smart from Rock­dale County High School, Jed D. Wheel- er from Lo­ganville High School, Erin N. Mast from Mon­roe Area High School, An­drew P. Deems from Wal­nut Grove High School, Anna Greene So­cial Cir­cle High School and Ben­jamin Au­gus­tus Scog­gin from Mor­gan County High School.

All the afore-men­tioned re­ward re­cip­i­ents re­ceived medals and award cer­tifi­cates from an­cient and ac­cepted Scot­tish Rite, Let­ters of Achieve­ment from Gov. Nathan Deal and Ge­or­gia Flags and Let­ters of Achieve­ment from Sec­re­tary of State Brian P. Kemp, pre­sented by Clay New­man.

All cadets re­ceived schol­ar­ships from the East Side Scot­tish Rite As­so­ci­a­tion with Cadet Ben­jamin Au­gust Scog­gin of Mor­gan County High School re­ceiv­ing the Cadet of Year from the East Side Scot­tish Rite As­so­ci­a­tion.
