Cov­ing­ton na­tive and pro­fes­sional record­ing artist Corey Crow­der and his band en­ter­tain down­town Cov­ing­ton Fri­day evening with a va­ri­ety of songs, in­clud­ing one of his most pop­u­lar hits “Here’s Look­ing at You Kid,” which has been fea­tured on sev­eral TV shows. The rain held off as the crowd gath­ered for the sec­ond fri­day concert on the square. Peo­ple of all ages car­ry­ing lounge chairs, blan­kets and cool­ers staked out a spot on the grassy lawn. Chil­dren played with bal­loons and fris­bees, as par­ents vis­ited with neigh­bors and friends.

Shortly af­ter 7 p.m., Corey Crow­der, a singer/ song­writer who’s orig­i­nally from Cov­ing­ton, and his band took to the stage. Crow­der reached na­tional at­ten­tion when his song, “Here’s Look­ing at You Kid,” was placed on the sea­son fi­nale of MTV re­al­ity se­ries The Real World, other Crow­der tunes have ap­peared on TV shows such as One Tree Hill, Bad Girls, The Big­gest Loser, and One Ocean View.

“It a bless­ing to come back home and play for your friends and neigh­bors; I love this town and miss it ev­ery­day,” Crow­der said. “This is a good place for fam­i­lies to just come out and re­lax; it’s good clean fun.”

“It’s awe­some weather and great mu­sic on a Fri­day,” said Robin Maresca, a Cov­ing­ton res­i­dent, as she ex­plains what brought her out.

New­ton county res­i­dent Lisa Bal­lard said she and her son Luke en­joyed lis­tened to the band on a blan­ket in front of the stage.
