Mis­ter, Miss Pageant draws a crowd

Al­though the an­nual Mis­ter and Miss Cov­ing­ton Pageant is only in its third year, but it’s al­ready be­com­ing a sta­ple event in New­ton County as the pageant con­tin­ues to draw in more con­tes­tants each year.

This year’s pageant, which was held at East­side High School on Aug. 14, fea­tured 70 con­tes­tants from ba­bies to teens. The event has added around 15 ad­di­tional con­tes­tants each year, ac­cord­ing to Crissy Al­ter pageant di­rec­tor.

This year’s theme was “Back to School” where con­tes­tants not only cre­ated cre­ative themed out­fits, but also col­lected school items to do­nate.

“The cre­ativ­ity on the back to school items was amaz­ing,” said Al­ter. “The boys and girls re­ally out­did them­selves.”

The con­tes­tants raised al­most 2,000 items for New­ton County schools, with Mak­inzie Baker col­lect­ing the most items.

Other win­ners in­cluded: Front Cover Model (of our Pro­gram Book): Madisyn Ramey, back Cover Model (of our Pro­gram Book): Adri­ana Drain, Baby Miss Cov­ing­ton: Shayla Grace White, Tod­dler Miss Cov­ing­ton: Kay­den David, Tiny Miss Cov­ing­ton: Adri­ana Drain, Lit­tle Miss Cov­ing­ton: Kaylee Croft, Pe­tite Miss Cov­ing­ton: Sum­mer Hol­lis, Young Miss Cov­ing­ton: Amanda Brielle Sax­ton, Ju­nior Miss Cov­ing­ton: Madi­son Kanupke, Teen Miss Cov­ing­ton: Janie Whit­latch, Miss Cov­ing­ton: Madi­son Etheridge, Tiny Mis­ter Cov­ing­ton: Caleb Cowan and Mis­ter Cov­ing­ton: Law­son White

Supreme win­ners were: 0-3 Grand Supreme: Lizah Turner, 0-3 Mini Supreme: Jayla Drain, 4-9 Grand Supreme: Sarah Elise Riggs, 4-9 Mini Supreme: Chloe March­man, 10 plus Grand Supreme: Made­line Niers­bach, 10 plus Mini Supreme: McKayla Fu­tral, Boys Grand Supreme: Bryson Blevins and Boys Mini Supreme: Lan­den Ed­wards.

Ev­ery con­tes­tant re­ceived a tro­phy two feet tall or larger.

As for next year’s pageant, Al­ter said there will def­i­nitely be one and hopes it is as much of a suc­cess as this one.

“This year went per­fect and re­ally couldn’t have been bet­ter,” she said.
