Al­covy can’t cap­i­tal­ize on run­ners in loss

Af­ter play­ing its first nine games with­out a loss, Al­covy fell for the sec­ond time in three con­tests Tues­day, los­ing 6-1 to Ola on Tues­day.

The Tigers (9-1-2) es­caped the rain in Mc- Donough, but couldn’t es­cape solid pitch­ing, good de­fense and costly mis­takes.

Al­covy al­lowed two un­earned runs with fresh­man Kalia John­son on the mound.

In the first in­ning, John­son hit a bat­ter, the Tigers com­mit­ted an er­ror and the Mus­tangs (5-2-1) con­nected on a big hit for a 4-1 lead.

Al­covy got on the board first as Lakeiyah Sor­rells got on base, moved over on a bunt and was driven home.

The Tigers fin­ished with seven hits, but could only man­age the one run.
