State of­fi­cials an­nounce bird hunt­ing sea­son

AT­LANTA ( AP) — State of­fi­cials have ap­proved Ge­or­gia bird hunt­ing sea­sons.

The Septem­ber Canada goose sea­son will stretch the full month of Septem­ber. The ini­tial teal sea­son will run from Sept. 8 to Sept. 23.

There are two win­dows for duck hunt­ing. The first is Nov. 17 through Nov. 25. The sec­ond, longer sea­son be­gins Dec. 8 and ends Jan. 27, 2013.

The Ge­or­gia Board of Nat­u­ral Re­sources de­ter­mines the sea­sons within rules of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Ser­vice.

Water­fowl hunters in Ge­or­gia must have a state hunt­ing li­cense, fed­eral duck stamp, Ge­or­gia water­fowl con­ser­va­tion li­cense and an HIP per­mit. Li­censes are avail­able on­line at geor­giaw­ildlife. com and at more than 800 lo­ca­tions around the state.
