Clay­ton man sur­ren­ders, end­ing stand­off

AT­LANTA (AP) — A 35-year-old man has sur­ren­dered to Clay­ton County po­lice, end­ing a four-hour stand­off at an apart­ment com­plex.

Po­lice said Cha­coland La­mon Dye held seven peo­ple hostage early Satur­day.

The At­lanta Jour­nal-Con­sti­tu­tion re­ports (http://bit.ly/Ry7LcI) that the in­ci­dent be­gan when Dye re­fused to leave the apart­ment and told po­lice that he would shoot any­one who came inside.

Po­lice Lt. Chris Wind­ley said Dye ul­ti­mately sur­ren­dered. He was charged with seven counts of false im­pris­on­ment, five counts of cru­elty to chil­dren and one count of Fam­ily Vi­o­lence Bat­tery. It was not im­me­di­ately clear whether he had an at­tor­ney.
