Southern Heartland gets ready for Artful Harvest
Southern Heartland Arts, Inc. will host its annual visual art show, Artful Harvest, sponsored by United Bank, Sept. 6 at the Newton County Public Library.
The show is an invitational show, open to any Georgia artist, with receiving of art to be between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.
This year’s judge is acclaimed artist, Thomas Reis. Reis received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and began his career as senior art director for JP Morgan Chase in New York City. He illustrates for many nationally known publications. Reis currently resides in Atlanta, and his work may be viewed at thomasreisfineart.com.
Judging of art will be in three categories: 2-D, 3-D, and Junior Artists, under 18. There will be monetary prizes for first, second, and third in 2and 3-D, Best in Show, and People’s Choice. The awards presentation will be Thursday, Sept.13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is sponsored by United Bank and The Heartland Woman’s Club, who supply refreshments.
