South­ern Heart­land gets ready for Artful Har­vest

South­ern Heart­land Arts, Inc. will host its an­nual visual art show, Artful Har­vest, spon­sored by United Bank, Sept. 6 at the New­ton County Pub­lic Li­brary.

The show is an in­vi­ta­tional show, open to any Ge­or­gia artist, with re­ceiv­ing of art to be be­tween 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wed­nes­day, Sept. 5.

This year’s judge is ac­claimed artist, Thomas Reis. Reis re­ceived his MFA from the San Fran­cisco Art In­sti­tute and be­gan his ca­reer as se­nior art di­rec­tor for JP Mor­gan Chase in New York City. He il­lus­trates for many na­tion­ally known pub­li­ca­tions. Reis cur­rently re­sides in At­lanta, and his work may be viewed at thomas­re­is­fin­eart.com.

Judg­ing of art will be in three cat­e­gories: 2-D, 3-D, and Ju­nior Artists, un­der 18. There will be mone­tary prizes for first, sec­ond, and third in 2and 3-D, Best in Show, and Peo­ple’s Choice. The awards pre­sen­ta­tion will be Thurs­day, Sept.13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is spon­sored by United Bank and The Heart­land Woman’s Club, who sup­ply re­fresh­ments.
