Cham­ber to host sec­ond Taste of New­ton Sept. 13

More than three dozen lo­cal busi­nesses and restau­rants will come to­gether for the sec­ond an­nual Taste of New­ton at 5:30 p.m., Thurs­day, Sept. 13 on the third floor of the New­ton County Ad­min­is­tra­tive Build­ing, 1113 Usher Street, Cov­ing­ton.

Tick­ets cost $25 and can be pur­chased at the Cov­ing­ton-New­ton County Cham­ber of Com­merce.

Cham­ber Pres­i­dent Hunter Hall has high ex­pec­ta­tions for the event.

“Ul­ti­mately, it’s an op­por­tu­nity for us to show­case food and busi­nesses here in New­ton County and let the gen­eral pub­lic know all of the great op­por­tu­ni­ties we have right here, locally,” said Hall, not­ing last year’s Taste of New­ton was suc­cess­ful, with about 250 peo­ple in at­ten­dance.

The lo­ca­tion of the event was orig­i­nally to be at the for­mer May­field’s build­ing on the square, but it was moved to a room on the third floor of the New­ton County Ad­min­is­tra­tive Build­ing. Ac­cord­ing to the cham­ber’s mem­ber­ship di­rec­tor Lisa Baker, the lo­ca­tion is per­fect for the event and has a beau­ti­ful view of down­town.

At­ten­dees will re­ceive a punch card upon ar­rival to the event and can use it to visit the sta­tions at the event. Ev­ery­one will have an op­por­tu­nity to sam­ple food and gain in­for­ma­tion about each res­tau­rant and other busi­nesses. The event will fea­ture live mu­sic per­formed by Brian Barnard.

There will be 18 restau­rants cater­ing at the event, in­clud­ing: Amici’s, Bradley’s BBQ, Bull ri­tos, Chick-fil-A, Cow­boy’s BBQ, Donut King, Dou­ble Dips, Johnny’s Pizza, Just Dogs, Scoops, Mango Tango, Nor­ing Farms on Floyd, Perk Up & Wine Down, RL’s, Square Perk, South­ern Heart­land Art, Sweet Treats, Vil­lage Grille and Where There’s Smoke.

In ad­di­tion, there will be 22 busi­nesses in at­ten­dance with pre­sen­ta­tions and in­for­ma­tion about their ser­vices, in­clud­ing: Al­covy Fit­ness, Angie’s Clean­ing, Apollo, Bank of North Ge­or­gia, Ben­ton House, Berry’s Christ­mas Tree Farm, BJ’s, Bizzy Bee, Cur­rent Events, Game­Time, H&R Block, Lib­erty Man­ual, New­ton Elec­tric, New­ton Fed­eral, Peachtree Academy, Perime­ter Pest Man­age­ment, Pre­ci­sion Lock­smith, Right at Home, Small Busi­ness Com­mit­tee, Sun Crest Home Health, The Oaks, United Bank and the Y.

The event is be­ing spon­sored by Al­covy Fit­ness and Well­ness and Char­ter Com­mu­ni­ca­tions.
