Covington Police continue to investigate a burglary where more than $10,000 worth of computers were reported stolen from Peachtree Academy.

According to a report from the Covington Police Department, police responded to the school located U.S. Highway 278 on Monday morning around 6 a.m.

An officer spoke to the principal who said when he arrived at the school that morning, he noticed the west end left door to the second building was open.

When police checked the room, they discovered that someone had taken 16 Lenovo Think- Centre laptop computers from the computer lab.

In addition, someone also went into the principal’s office and stole another Lenovo ThinkCentre laptop computer from the secretary’s desk, and an older model of a Lenovo ThinkCentre computer from the principal’s desk. The estimated value of the stolen computers is $10,350.

Police said there was no sign of forced entry. The report also noted that the wiring from the computers appeared to be cut. The estimated cost of damages to the cut wires was unknown at the time of the report. CPD Capt. Ken Malcom said there are no leads at this time. No further information was released about the burglary.
