Res­i­dents of all ages are in­vited to come out to the square tonight at 7 p.m. to en­joy the sounds of Mo­town at the last free, Fri­day night concert of the year

Since it was formed in 1996, At­lanta’s Up­town En­ter­tain­ment Band has been bring­ing its Earth, Wind, and Fire-sound to fes­ti­vals and events all over the metro area.

Some of the group’s ma­jor high­lights in­clude per­for­mance with Theo Peo­ples, the for­mer lead singer of the Temp­ta­tions, as well as per­for­mances at the At­lanta Jazz Fes­ti­val, At­lanta Mon­treaux Fes­ti­val, Char­lotte Jazz Fes­ti­val and as the open­ing act for Na­tional Record­ing Artist, Na­jee. Arts As­so­ci­a­tion Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor Bun­cie Lan­ners said Wed­nes­day she be­lieves the concert se­ries has been an up­lift­ing ex­pe­ri­ence for Cov­ing­ton, al­low­ing peo­ple of all ages to come out and en­joy mu­sicr from a va­ri­ety of mu­si­cal acts.

The concert se­ries is hosted by Main Street Cov­ing­ton and the Arts As­so­ci­a­tion.

Al­though this is the last night of the concert se­ries, there are still two more Thurs­day, lun­cheon con- certs this month.

Next Thurs­day, Han­nah Thomas, the win­ner of the 2011 Ge­or­gia All Ac­cess Mu­sic Search, will per- form on the square. For more in­for­ma­tion about her mu­sic, visit han­nahthomas­

The singer/song­writer will bring a pleas­ant mix of coun­try and rock to down­town, Lan­ners said.

The fol­low­ing Thurs­day, Sept. 27, will fea­ture the Jon Brown Band, a Mo­town and rhythm and blues band.

In the event of rain, events may be moved to the New­ton County His­toric Court­house, Lan­ners said.

The Fri­day night concert se­ries will re­turn next sum­mer.

The Up­town En­ter­tain­ment Band will per­form tonight on the Cov­ing­ton square.
