GPTC an­nounces new vice pres­i­dent of aca­demic af­fairs

Ge­or­gia Pied­mont Tech­ni­cal Col­lege re­cently an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Dr. Mariam Dittmann as vice pres­i­dent of aca­demic af­fairs at the col­lege.

“Dr. Dittmann is a renowned ed­u­ca­tor and we are con­fi­dent that she will bring in­no­va­tive think­ing in the ar­eas of aca­demic lead­er­ship and stu­dent success,” said Dr. Jabari Si­mama, GPTC’s pres­i­dent.

Dittmann was se­lected from a field of sev­eral qual­i­fied can­di­dates. She be­gan her new du­ties on Nov. 26. Prior to join­ing Ge­or­gia Pied­mont Tech­ni­cal Col­lege, Dittmann served for two years as the Dean of Cur­ricu­lum and Spe­cial Projects for Sa­van­nah Tech­ni­cal Col­lege. There, she led the in­sti­tu­tion’s ef­forts in in­sti­tu­tional ef­fec­tive­ness and ac­cred­i­ta­tions. Dr. Dittmann pre­vi­ously served as the Vice Pres­i­dent for Aca­demic Af­fairs at Bain­bridge Col­lege in south­west Ge­or­gia from 2008 to 2010. She be­gan her ca­reer in higher ed­u­ca­tion at Ge­or­gia Perime­ter Col­lege where she taught physics and as­tron­omy from 1991 to 2008 and worked her way into an ad­min­is­tra­tive po­si­tion.
