Mr. Christo­pher Glenn Canup, 44, of Smyrna, passed away Dec. 6. Canup was born in Laredo, Texas and grew up in Cov­ing­ton. He grad­u­ated from New­ton County High School, got his un­der­grad­u­ate de­gree in English from Ge­or­gia State Univer­sity and his master’s in English from the Univer­sity of Ge­or­gia.

He re­cently re­turned to school at Ken­ne­saw State Univer­sity to pur­sue a master’s in teach­ing. He is sur­vived by his wife Sarah McCall Canup and chil­dren, Cameron McCall Canup and Wil­liam Christo­pher Canup.

He is also sur­vived by his mother Frankie Day Canup Jack­son (Deb­bie) of Cov­ing­ton, and his fa­ther Leon Glenn Canup Jr. (Joe) of New­nan; sis­ter Melissa Canup Mann (Sean) and their chil­dren Miko, Dipti and Pa­trick; brothers-in­law Michael Craig McCall (Da­maris) and their chil­dren Gabriela and Michael, Christo­pher Cameron McCall (Julie) and their chil­dren Katie and Emma; sis­ter-in-law Erin McCall Al­ley (Kevin) and their chil­dren Drew, Blake, Thomas and Luke. He is also sur­vived by his aunts, un­cles and cousins.

He was pre­ceded in death by his grand­par­ents J.C. and LaMerle Day and Leon and Vi­o­let Canup.

Canup loved to spend time out­doors, hik­ing and camp­ing with his chil­dren and cy­cling. He was a great cook who loved to pre­pare meals for his friends and fam­ily. He was an avid reader who passed on his love of books to his chil­dren.

Visi­ta­tion will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to­day, Dec. 9 at Carmichael Funeral Home lo­cated at 2950 King Street, Smyrna, GA 30080 and on to­mor­row, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a me­mo­rial ser­vice at 2 p.m.
