FFA mem­bers el­i­gi­ble for $5K schol­ar­ship

Monty’s Plant Food Com­pany, a Louisville, Ky.-based man­u­fac­turer of plant and soil en­hance­ment prod­ucts for the agri­cul­ture in­dus­try, is now ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions from Ge­or­gia stu­dents for four $1,000 col­lege schol­ar­ships. The awards will be made in con­junc­tion with the Na­tional FFA Or­ga­ni­za­tion to high school se­niors who are mem­bers of FFA.

To be el­i­gi­ble, stu­dents must re­side in Ge­or­gia; live on a fam­ily farm; plan to pur­sue post-sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion and study agron­omy and crop sci­ence, sus­tain­able agri­cul­ture, soil sci­ence or soil con­ser­va­tion; have a min­i­mum high school GPA of 3.25 and have par­tic­i­pated in com­mu­nity ser­vice.

A com­plete list of cri­te­ria is listed on­line at mon­tys­plant­food.com. Schol­ar­ship ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able on­line at ffa.org/schol­ar­ships. The ap­pli­ca­tion dead­line is Feb. 15, 2013 and the schol­ar­ships will be awarded in May.

Each year, the Na­tional FFA Or­ga­ni­za­tion awards ap­prox­i­mately $2 mil­lion in schol­ar­ships spon­sored by busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als through the Na­tional FFA Foun­da­tion. Schol­ar­ships are awarded for a wide va­ri­ety of ex­pe­ri­ences, ca­reer goals and higher ed­u­ca­tion plans. Stu­dents can com­plete one ap­pli­ca­tion to be con­sid­ered for all schol­ar­ships of­fered through the Na­tional FFA Or­ga­ni­za­tion.
