Ms. Linda Ham­mond, 65, of Cov­ing­ton, passed away Dec. 20. She en­joyed cook­ing, work­ing in her yard and tak­ing care of an­i­mals. Ms. Ham­mond loved the Lord Je­sus Christ and be­cause she had a heart of gold, she en­joyed help­ing those less for­tu­nate, es­pe­cially dur­ing the hol­i­day sea­son. Most im­por­tant, Ms. Ham­mond was a de­voted mother, granny, sis­ter, aunt and friend to many. She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, Earl Von and Nan­nie Elizabeth (Ber­rong) Ar­rowood.

Sur­vivors in­clude her son Jody Ham­mond of Cov­ing­ton; grand­chil­dren Lind­sey and Kristo­pher Sim­mons of Lo­ganville, Jake Ham­mond, Nick Ham­mond, both of Cov­ing­ton; great-grand­son Westin Sim­mons of Lo­ganville; sis­ters and brothers-in­law, Leta and J.T. Gar­rett of Hi­awassee; Lois Collins of Cov­ing­ton; Lucy Oakes of Hi­awassee; Lan­nie and David Ledford of Hi­awassee; brothers and sis­ters-in-law Ernest and Mary Ar­rowood of Pendle­ton, S.C.; Ed­win and Mavis Ar­rowood, Em- mitt and Dianna Ar­rowood, all of Hi­awassee; El­liot and Pam Ar­rowood of Hayesville, N.C.; El­don Ar­rowood of Hi­awassee; life­long friend Madonna Paige of Cov­ing­ton; numer­ous nieces, neph­ews and cousins.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice for Ms. Ham­mond will be held at 3 p.m. to­mor­row, Dec. 22, at Lower Hightower Bap­tist Church, in Hi­awassee, with Min­is­ter Bran­don Ar­rowood of­fi­ci­at­ing and in­ter­ment fol­low­ing in the church ceme­tery.
