Lo­cal woman named First Honor UGA grad­u­ate

Cov­ing­ton woman Kelly Ann King was rec­og­nized as a First Honor Grad­u­ate dur­ing com­mence­ment cer­e­monies at the Univer­sity of Ge­or­gia ear­lier this month.

A 2009 grad­u­ate of Pied­mont Academy, where she was vale­dic­to­rian, King main­tained a 4.0 cu­mu­la­tive grade point av­er­age dur­ing her time at UGA. She grad­u­ated summa cum laude and ranked in the top 1 per­cent of her 1,800 stu- dent class with a de­gree in bi­o­log­i­cal sci­ence from the Col­lege of Agri­cul­tural and En­vi­ron­men­tal Sciences.

King is the daugh­ter of Hal and Ann. King’s mother Ann said that her daugh­ter was given spe­cial recog­ni­tion at the cer­e­mony, walking in fol­low­ing the Pres­i­dent’s party and sit­ting in the front row with the fac­ulty. She was in­tro­duced by Jere W. More­head, Se­nior Vice Pres­i­dent for Aca­demic Af­fairs and Provost, dur­ing the grad­u­a­tion and was asked to stand along with her fam­ily and friends.
