Stu­dent charged with child mo­lesta­tion

An Al­covy High School stu­dent was ar­rested Tues­day af­ter­noon and charged with sex­u­ally mo­lest­ing three boys.

Zane Michael Stodghill, 17, is cur­rently be­ing held with no bond at the New­ton County Jail on charges of ag­gra­vated child mo­lesta­tion and ag­gra­vated sex­ual bat­tery sodomy. The three vic­tims are broth­ers, but not re­lated to Stodghill, only known to him.

Ac­cord­ing to New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice

Pub­lic In­for­ma­tion Of­fi­cer Cort­ney Mor­ri­son, the three vic­tims, ages 7, 9 and 9, “made an out­cry” to a care­giver. They al­leged they were as­saulted by Stodghill from Nov. 1, 2012, to mid-July of this year in mul­ti­ple in­stances.

The care­giver no­ti­fied the chil­dren’s par­ents, who took the vic­tims to a hos­pi­tal and called au­thor­i­ties.

All three boys were given foren­sic in­ter­views, in which they re­port­edly told of the abuse at the hands of Stodghill.
