Get­ting kids back to school

The New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, in con­junc­tion with the Sal­va­tion Army, the Wash­ing­ton Street Com­mu­nity Cen­ter and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Soror­ity (Chi Tau Omega chap­ter), as­sisted more than 1,600 stu­dents at its 2013 Back to School Cel­e­bra­tion on July 28.

The NCSO thanks the many con­trib­u­tors and more than 100 vol­un­teers who took part, as well as the of­fices of Rep. Pamela Dick­er­son and Con­gress­man Hank John­son.

The Deputies Who Care pro­gram is al­ready plan­ning for the 2014 cel­e­bra­tion and is seek­ing com­mu­nity part­ners to help it as­sist 5,000 stu­dents next year.
