Covington to get new house numbering

The Covington News - - LOCAL -

As Covington progresses and prepares for future growth, the needs become greater for more effective services throughout the city.

One of the most urgent needs in Covington is an organized, well-coordinated house numbering system.

The system that now exists is inadequate, outdated and cannot possibly be coordinated with future building.

A completely new house-numbering system for the city has been designed based on the Sector-type numbering system.

The required ordinance providing for this change has been officially adopted by the Mayor and Council.

The number assigned to your home or business place will be furnished by the city and put up by city personnel.

Once completed, it will provide for a more efficient mail delivery system and greater promptness of police, fire and ambulance services to your home or business establishment.

The signs that are now being erected throughout the city are Sector signs that will determine the sector of the city in which you live.

The entire system is expected to be completed in full by the first of April.

“Your cooperation with the city in its new house numbering sytem will be appreciated,” Mayor Walker Harris stated recently.
