Roads to be paved via SPLOST

Sev­eral roads in Cov­ing­ton will be paved this year us­ing SPLOST funds, in­clud­ing some neigh­bor­hood and sub­di­vi­sion roads.

The Cov­ing­ton City Coun­cil ap­proved the low bid of $682,537 from Key Curb­ing and Paving in Cony­ers to pave eight streets and the roads in six sub­di­vi­sions. Money will come from the 2005 and 2011 SPLOSTs, said Trans­porta­tion Man­ager Billy Skinner.

Skinner said he hoped the work would start within a cou­ple of months.

Streets to be re­paired in­clude:

• E. Dur­den Cir­cle • Maddox Drive • Need Street • Echols Street, from Ga. 81 to West Street • King Street • Howard Street • Wil­liams Road • City Pond Road, from Wil­liams Road to the Mir­a­cle League Field

The six sub­di­vi­sions will have top­ping placed on their roads, which is the re­spon­si­bil­ity of the sub­di­vi­sion de­vel­oper; how­ever, the de­vel­oper in each of the subdi- vi­sions de­faulted on bonds dur­ing the hous­ing col­lapse. The sub­di­vi­sions in­clude:

• Walker’s Bend • In­gle­wood • Dorch­ester Place • Wild­wood • Cov­ing­ton Place, phase six • Cor­ry­dale
