Roads to be paved via SPLOST
Several roads in Covington will be paved this year using SPLOST funds, including some neighborhood and subdivision roads.
The Covington City Council approved the low bid of $682,537 from Key Curbing and Paving in Conyers to pave eight streets and the roads in six subdivisions. Money will come from the 2005 and 2011 SPLOSTs, said Transportation Manager Billy Skinner.
Skinner said he hoped the work would start within a couple of months.
Streets to be repaired include:
• E. Durden Circle • Maddox Drive • Need Street • Echols Street, from Ga. 81 to West Street • King Street • Howard Street • Williams Road • City Pond Road, from Williams Road to the Miracle League Field
The six subdivisions will have topping placed on their roads, which is the responsibility of the subdivision developer; however, the developer in each of the subdi- visions defaulted on bonds during the housing collapse. The subdivisions include:
• Walker’s Bend • Inglewood • Dorchester Place • Wildwood • Covington Place, phase six • Corrydale
