New­ton County School Sys­tem of­fi­cials, New­ton High ad­min­is­tra­tors, stu­dents, and mem­bers of the com­mu­nity gath­ered at New­ton High School Sun­day af­ter­noon to cel­e­brate its new build­ing.

A ded­i­ca­tion cer­e­mony was held, dur­ing which the ar­chi­tects and con­trac­tors for the school build­ing, board mem­bers and the com­mu­nity were rec­og­nized for their ef­forts in the build­ing process of the new fa­cil­ity.

NCSS su­per­in­ten­dent Sa­man­tha Fuhrey thanked the com­mu­nity for its “tremen­dous sup­port” as she wel­comed guests to the event, and Board of Ed­u­ca­tion Chair Abi­gail Cog­gin rec­og­nized spe­cial guests in at­ten­dance, who in­cluded rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Cunningham, Fore­hand, Matthews and Moore, Ar­chi­tects; McKnight Con­trac­tors; and lo­cal of­fi­cials.

Craig Lock­hart, NCSS deputy su­per­in­ten­dent who pre­vi­ously served as prin­ci­pal of the high school, gave the key­note ad­dress at the cer­e­mony.
