Soft­ball high­lights week ahead

Af­ter an ex­cit­ing week of New­ton County sports ac­tion, the Tigers, the Ea­gles and the Rams gear up for an­other busy week as the fall sports sched­ule hits its stride.

Soft­ball dom­i­nates county ac­tion this week, with seven sched­uled games be­tween the three schools.

Al­covy be­gins the week with a ri­valry game against New­ton on the road at 5 p.m. be­fore host­ing Mor­row at home on Thurs­day at 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers will also com­pete in a pair of vol­ley­ball con­tests, trav­el­ing to Nor­cross on Tues­day. Al­covy hosts Union Grove in vol­ley­ball ac­tion on Thurs­day at 7 p.m.

Al­covy closes the week at Homer Sharp Sta­dium against East­side in the county's lone football con­test.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. East­side sched­ule

The Ea­gles kick off their sched­ule this week with a pair of games on Tues­day, trav­el­ing to Lanier at 4:30 p.m. for ju­nior var­sity and var­sity soft­ball games.

East­side will host Madi­son County on the same day in a vol­ley­ball match slated for 5 p.m.

The two teams switch places on Thurs­day, with the soft­ball pro­gram host­ing Stephens at 5:30 p.m. while the vol­ley­ball team trav­els to Stock­bridge for a 5 p.m. start.

The Ea­gles end the week at home against Al­covy for a chance to win the county football cham­pi­onship.

The New­ton soft­ball team hosts a pair of games this week, tak­ing on Al­covy on Tues­day and Put­nam on Wed­nes­day.

Both games will be­gin at 5 p.m.

The soft­ball team will also travel to Luella for a 5:30 p.m. con­test on Thurs­day.

The Rams' vol­ley­ball team will also be in ac­tion this week on Tues­day at 5 p.m. at Nor­cross.
