DeKalb Academy of Tech­nol­ogy & En­vi­ron­ment will pro­vide an en­vi­ron­men­tally sound way to dis­pose of elec­tronic waste Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The event, open to the pub­lic, res­i­dents and busi­nesses, will al­low peo­ple to dis­pose of un­wanted home com­put­ers, tele­vi­sions, mon­i­tors, prin­ters, fax ma­chines, small house­hold ap­pli­ances and cell phones free of charge.

CRT de­vices (TVs and mon­i­tors) will also be ac­cepted for a $5 charge for each CRT mon­i­tor; $10 charge for each CRT TV; and $30 charge for each large pro­jec­tion or wooden con­sole and Plasma TVs.

Un­ac­cepted ma­te­ri­als in­clude items con­tain­ing bio­haz­ards, haz­ardous waste, freon, or liq­uids of any type, smoke de­tec­tors, or ra­dioac­tive ma­te­ri­als.
