Games resched­uled due to in­clement weather

Due to frigid weather through­out the South­east, Tues­day night games through­out Newton County were can­celed or resched­uled.

The Eastside Ea­gles, sched­uled to travel to Mon­roe Area Tues­day night for bas­ket­ball con- tests, can­celed their games against the Pur­ple Hur­ri­canes. A makeup date had not been sched­uled as of press time.

The Newton Rams' con­tests against Rock­dale County sched­uled for Tues­day night were resched­uled for tonight.

The Rams will take on the Bull­dogs in re­gion ac­tion at Newton tonight at 6 p.m. The meet­ing is the first be­tween the Rams and the Bull­dogs this sea­son. Last year, the Rams were swept by the Bull­dogs 6550 and 62-48.

The Rams en­ter tonight's con­test with an 11-3 record, win­ning two of their last three games, while the Bull­dogs have strug­gled this sea­son, win­ning just four games en­ter- ing tonight's con­test. The Bull­dogs have won three of their last four con­tests, in­clud­ing a pair of games against East Coweta and Val­ley (Alabama) at the Toy­ota Clas­sic dur­ing the hol­i­day break.

The Newton girls var­sity bas­ket­ball team de­feated the Lady Bull­dogs twice a sea­son ago, down­ing Rock­dale County 75- 69 and 75-55.

Tonight, the Lady Rams look to hold home court and pick up their ninth win of the sea­son, while the Lady Bull­dogs hope to win their first con­test in 20 days since de­feat­ing Creek­side at the Wash­ing­ton County Christ­mas Clas­sic.

Wed­nes­day and Fri­day night games have not been af­fected by the weather.

In Rock­dale County, the Salem Seminoles' Tues­day night games against Gainesville were resched­uled to Mon­day, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m., while the Her­itage Pa­tri­ots will host Apalachee tonight at 6 p.m.
