New­ton Ath­lete of the Week: Guard D.J. Hill

Af­ter lead­ing the New­ton Rams to a pair of back-to-back wins over ri­vals Salem and Rock­dale County, New­ton guard D.J. Hill has been named the Rams' Ath­lete of the Week.

In the Rams' 65-49 vic­tory over the Bull­dogs Wed­nes­day night, Hill led New­ton in scor­ing with 19 points, in­clud­ing seven points in the se­cond quar­ter.

The win helped moved the Rams above .500 in re­gion play, giv­ing New­ton its third re­gion vic­tory of the sea­son.

Four nights ear­lier, Hill led New­ton with nine as­sists in the Rams' 72-45 blowout over Salem.

In the Rams' last loss to Luella on Jan. 3, the ju­nior guard had 14 points and three as­sists.

Hill and the Rams re- turn to ac­tion Satur­day at home against East­side in their third ri­valry con­tests in as many games.

Game time against the Ea­gles is set for 6:30 p.m.

New­ton re­turns to re­gion ac­tion on Jan. 14 at home against Druid Hills.

The game against the Red Devils is part of a four-game home stretch for the Rams, which ends on Jan. 17 against Love­joy.
