Mr. Elisha “Ju­nior” Hardy, 79, of Covington, passed away at his res­i­dence Jan. 8. The son of the late Elisha Frances and Lil­lie Mae Carter Hardy, he was born in 1934 in Jasper. Mr. Hardy was an avid out­doors­man who en­joyed gar­den­ing and an­i­mals, es­pe­cially feed­ing the fish in the pond be­hind his house, and go­ing to flea mar­kets and thrift stores. He owned and op­er­ated Hardy’s Citgo in So­cial Cir­cle for many years. Mr. Hardy was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Glo­ria Kay Hardy, and his grand­son, Andy Harville.

He is sur­vived by his chil­dren, Benny and Vickie Hardy of Ox­ford, Anne Harville of Ea­ton­ton, and Ran­dall Hardy of Covington; brother and sis­ter-in-law, Jim and Bil­lie Jean Hardy of Cony­ers; sis­ter, Ber­nice Big­gers of Covington; spe­cial friend Edna Hardy of Mon­roe; seven grand­chil­dren; nine great-grand­chil­dren; and nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews, other fam­ily and close friends.

Funeral ser­vices will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 11, at the chapel of J.C. Har­well and Son Funeral Home with Pas­tor Danny Sor­rells and the Rev. Mike Hardy of­fi­ci­at­ing.
