Jefferson went on to win its 13th straight team state championship by defeating Bremen 48-15.
“We beat Bremen earlier in the season, but I knew it was going to be tough to be able to do it twice in the same year,” Social Circle coach Randy Prater said. “Bremen wrestled well. It was a great match with a lot of lead changes. I am proud of my wrestlers.”
The Redskins were matched up with Lovett on Friday afternoon in the first round of the tournament. The match started off at the 220-weight class, where Lovett won the first three matches at 220, 285 and 106 pounds. Social Circle’s Ryan Davis recorded a pin to retake the lead 12-7, but Bremen answered with wins at 138 and 147 pounds, taking a 17-12 advantage.
