Athlete of the week
Jordan Heron was named Alcovy High School’s Athlete of the Week after leading the Tigers in back-to-back games.
Heron hit a shot at the buzzer to give Alcovy a win over Loganville Friday and had 20 points in a loss to Luella Tuesday.
After leading the Tigers in scoring in backto-back contests, Alcovy's Jordan Heron has been named the Alcovy Athlete of the Week.
Friday night against Druid Hills, Heron forced a steal in the final 20 seconds of play and converted a shot at the buzzer to help the Tigers defeat the Red Devils in region play.
Heron finished with a game-high 17 points, including six points in the opening quarter.
Heron also finished with a team-high 20 points in the Tigers' 8245 loss to Luella on Tuesday.
Alcovy interim coach Eric Hollier said that Heron's work ethic has been a positive factor for the Tigers.
"Jordan is a hard work- er," Hollier said. "He puts in the time in the weight room and he comes to practice with intensity. He works really hard, and he took this week by storm. I'm extremely proud of him."
Alcovy returns to action Tuesday on the road against Morrow before hosting rival Newton in region play on Saturday.
Game time against the Rams is set for 8:30 p.m.
