Mrs. Rita Mae Pow­ell Manasco, age 83, of Cov­ing­ton for­merly of Many, La., passed away Satur­day, Jan. 18, 2014, at Abbey Hospice in Wal­ton County.

Mrs. Manasco was born Nov. 18, 1930, daugh­ter of the late Char­lie and El­iz­a­beth Pow­ell. She was a mem­ber of the Apos­tolic Com­mu­nity Church in Cov­ing­ton and was a pas­tor’s wife for 28 years. Mrs. Manasco en­joyed cook­ing and veg­etable gar­den­ing. She was a lov­ing and de­voted wife, mother, grand­mother and great-grand­mother, and en­joyed serv­ing peo­ple and be­ing lov­ing and com­pas­sion­ate to­ward oth­ers. In ad­di­tion to her par­ents she was also pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, the Rev. Lehman C. Manasco; son, Jerry Wayne Sr.; grand­son, Ethan Manas sis­ter.

Sur­vivors in­clude daugh­ters and son-in-law, Nash of Cov­ing­ton, and Denise Re­nae Hitt, also of Cov­ing­ton; grand­chil­dren, Jerry Jr. and Kayla Manasco of Marthav­ille, La., Jammy and Melissa Manasco of Ro­beline, La., Am­ber and David Savell of Many, La., and Nate and Sarah Nash, Johnathan and Tif­fany Nash, Tabitha and Blake Se­abolt, Dusty Hitt, Joshua and Theresa Hood Hitt and Nick Pro­cell, all of Cov­ing­ton; three great- grand­chil­dren.; three sis­ters; three brothers; and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

Fu­neral ser­vices were at 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at the Apos­tolic Com­mu­nity Church in Cov­ing­ton with Pas­tor Robert Nash and Rev. Joseph Hardi fol­lowed in the Pine Knot Ceme­tery. Friends vis­ited the fam­ily from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 20 at the church.
