Fashion Show, One-Act Play Wednesday At Newton High
Citizens of Newton County who love good entertainment have a real treat in treat in store next Wednesday night, Feb.1 at the High School Auditorium.
Beginning at 8 o’clock will be a delightful informal fashion show, featuring new spring fashions from clothing stores in Covington.
Outfits of various types will be modeled by men, women, and children, the costumes being furnished by the following stores: Dietz’s, Callaway’s, White Dept. Store, Parsons–Hutchins, W. Cohen Co., and J.C. Poole Co.
Background music and special lighting effects will add to the enjoy- able occasion, and narration will be given by Mr. Eddie Naijar.
The evening’s entertainment will be concluded with the presentation of “Helena’s Husband”, the award-winning one act play.
This hilarious comedy was the first-place winner when in competition with other high schools in Region 4AA, and will compete with other RegioneWinners in Athens on Saturday.
Members of the excellent cast are: John Jordan, Tony Hodges, Lee Campbell, Jack Edwards, Marilyn McKay, Ginger Knight, Dickie George, Jack Haney. Lanier Forester and Lynda Holifield furnish the off -stage music.
Wednesday evening’s entertainment is being sponsored by two of Covington’s leading civic organizations, The Covington Service Guild, under the leadership of Mrs. James Purecell; and the Covington Rotary Club, headed by Mr. J.W. Richardson. Mrs. F.C. Nesbit, of The Service Guild, has been named coordinator of the performance.
Tickets are on sale by members of both organizations, and will also be sold at the door.
Proceeds to go to the service projects of the clubs.
Admission prices will be 50c for children, and $1.00 for adults.
