Fash­ion Show, One-Act Play Wed­nes­day At Newton High

Cit­i­zens of Newton County who love good en­ter­tain­ment have a real treat in treat in store next Wed­nes­day night, Feb.1 at the High School Au­di­to­rium.

Be­gin­ning at 8 o’clock will be a de­light­ful in­for­mal fash­ion show, fea­tur­ing new spring fash­ions from cloth­ing stores in Cov­ing­ton.

Out­fits of var­i­ous types will be mod­eled by men, women, and chil­dren, the cos­tumes be­ing fur­nished by the fol­low­ing stores: Di­etz’s, Call­away’s, White Dept. Store, Par­sons–Hutchins, W. Co­hen Co., and J.C. Poole Co.

Back­ground mu­sic and spe­cial light­ing ef­fects will add to the en­joy- able oc­ca­sion, and nar­ra­tion will be given by Mr. Ed­die Nai­jar.

The evening’s en­ter­tain­ment will be con­cluded with the pre­sen­ta­tion of “He­lena’s Hus­band”, the award-win­ning one act play.

This hi­lar­i­ous com­edy was the first-place win­ner when in com­pe­ti­tion with other high schools in Re­gion 4AA, and will com­pete with other Re­gioneWin­ners in Athens on Satur­day.

Mem­bers of the ex­cel­lent cast are: John Jor­dan, Tony Hodges, Lee Camp­bell, Jack Ed­wards, Mar­i­lyn McKay, Gin­ger Knight, Dickie Ge­orge, Jack Haney. Lanier Forester and Lynda Ho­lifield fur­nish the off -stage mu­sic.

Wed­nes­day evening’s en­ter­tain­ment is be­ing spon­sored by two of Cov­ing­ton’s lead­ing civic or­ga­ni­za­tions, The Cov­ing­ton Ser­vice Guild, un­der the lead­er­ship of Mrs. James Pure­cell; and the Cov­ing­ton Ro­tary Club, headed by Mr. J.W. Richard­son. Mrs. F.C. Nes­bit, of The Ser­vice Guild, has been named co­or­di­na­tor of the per­for­mance.

Tick­ets are on sale by mem­bers of both or­ga­ni­za­tions, and will also be sold at the door.

Pro­ceeds to go to the ser­vice projects of the clubs.

Ad­mis­sion prices will be 50c for chil­dren, and $1.00 for adults.
