Mr. Grady Cargile Jr., age 82, a long­time res­i­dent of Cov­ing­ton, passed away Jan­uary 29, 2014, at Abbey Hospice. He was born in the Eu­dora/Pros- pect Com­mu­nity of Jasper County Jan. 4, 1932, to the late Grady and Ethel Digby Cargile.

Mr. Cargile was a vet­eran of the United States Army, serv­ing as a para­trooper dur­ing the Korean War. He was re­tired from Gen­eral Mo­tors and re­tired as head of Qual­ity Con­trol at the Do­rav­ille plant.

Mr. Cargile en­joyed wood­work­ing and hunt­ing; he was a lov­ing hus­band, fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, great-grand­fa­ther, brother and friend.

Mr. Cargile is sur­vived by his wife, Geral­dine Cargile; his son, Monty “Zack” Cargile of Cov­ing­ton; his sis­ters and brother-in-law, Pat Far­ris of At­lanta and Linda and Bobby Watkins of Jack­son.

He is also sur­vived by his grand­sons, Daniel Cargile and Ali­cia of Cov­ing­ton and Trevor Cargile, also of Cov­ing­ton, and his great-grand­chil­dren, Har­ley, Ian, Ai­den and Ash­lyn.

Fu­neral ser­vices for Mr. Cargile will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Chapel of J.C. Har­well and Son Fu­neral Home, with Dr. Ron­nie Barnes of­fi­ci­at­ing. En­tomb­ment will fol­low at New Cov­ing­ton Ceme­tery.

The fam­ily will re­ceive friends at the fu­neral home from 1-2 p.m. Satur­day prior to the ser­vice.
