Ex-Ga. pastor sentenced for sex with 12-year-old
COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — A former minister accused of having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl while serving as her family’s spiritual adviser has been given a 15-year sentence.
The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus (http://bit.ly/1iMnOP6) reports 47-year-old Bradford Ford was sentenced Thursday and is ordered to serve eight years of his term in prison.
Ford was initially charged with aggravated child molestation but pleaded guilty to statutory rape and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Authorities say Ford sent the girl intimate text messages to a cellphone he bought her and had sex with her in Columbus and at a Phenix City, Alabama motel.
Officials say Ford’s wife saw some of the messages and the girl eventually told her mother about their relationship.
