Porterdale Woman’s Club holds election of officers at recent meeting
The Porterdale Woman’s Club held the ngiht at the regular monthly meeting. for the coming year. Mrs. H.W. Pittman was elected vice-president; Mrs. Henry Findlay Jr., treasurer. The assistant treasurer is to be appointed by the treasurer.
In the absence of Mrs. Tom Laster, the president, Mrs. Harvey Rollins presided. Mrs. Harold Gates reported that the party given at the hospital by the Woman’s club for the parents of the babies born at the hospital and the babies themselves was a big success. She showed the club members the photograph album, of the pictures of the babies.
Mrs. Rollins announced the sugar registration for canning purposes. Several women volunteered to help with the registration during the rest of the week.
The Red Cross committee reported month. The help and co-operatin that the members of the missionary circle in the different churches have given is greatly appreciated.
The hostess committee reported 30 members present and three visitors.
Miss Ruth Tanner offered her help to anyone who wished it in connection with canning. She announced that the kitchen in the gym will be available to those who want to do canning there.
Miss Barbara Davis announced the community church services beginning Sunday night and urge the members to attend.
Mrs. Rollins announced the following committees for July; program committee, Mrs. C. B. Drennon Mrs. C. T. Jaynes and Mrs. J.V. Daniel. Decorating committee, Mrs. Guy T. Pittman, Mrs. D. Shirah and Mrs. T.C. Johnston. Refreshment committee Miss Ruth Tanner, Mrs. Ed Chestnut and Mrs. Mary Piper.
