New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice to hold an­nual school sup­ply drive

The New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice is part­ner­ing with Wash­ing­ton Street Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, the Sal­va­tion Army and the A.K.A. Soror­ity Inc. for its An­nual Back to School Sup­ply Drive.

In NCSO’s third straight year par­tic­i­pat­ing in the sup­ply drive, dis­tri­bu­tion will be July 27 at 3 p.m. at the New­ton County Re­cre­ation Cen­ter’s Turner Lake Com­plex.

In the last two years, the An­nual Back to School Sup­ply Drive has re­sulted in the dis­tri­bu­tion of more than 1,500 packs filled with school sup­plies for stu­dents in New­ton County. Drive or­ga­niz­ers are hop­ing for a big­ger pay­off, set­ting their sights at pro­vid­ing for 2,000 stu­dents.

“This is a great op­por­tu­nity to help the many fam­i­lies and chil­dren go back to school pre­pared,” NCSO Sher­iff Ezell Brown said. “We are priv­i­leged to have the chance to help in our lo­cal com­mu­nity. In or­der to have the great­est im­pact pos­si­ble, we re­quest your sup­port with a tax de­ductible con­tri­bu­tion.”

The sher­iff’s of­fice is also ac­cept­ing do­na­tions in the form of spon­sor­ships, which are bro­ken down to four lev­els: plat­inum for $1,000; gold for $500, sil­ver for $250 and bronze for $100.
