Pres­i­dent Hay to give re­port of con­ven­tion

Cov­ing­ton Ki­wa­nis Pres­i­dent S. M. Hay will give a re­port of his re­cent trip to the Ki­wa­nis In­ter­na­tional Con­ven­tion at Los An­ge­les, Calif. at the reg­u­lar weekly meet­ing of the Cov­ing­ton Club to­day (Thurs­day) at 1 o’clock at Le­gion Home.

Mr. Hay said that he will use a tape of con­ven­tion high­lights as well as his re­port of the con­ven­tion and trip.

Rev. Owen Kel­lum, pas­tor of the First Methodist Church, Cov­ing­ton, was the guest speaker at the Cov­ing­ton Ki­wa­nis Club meet­ing Thurs­day.

The speaker gave an in­ter­est­ing re­sume and re­view of the events lead­ing up to the Bat­tle of At­lanta, which oc­curred ex­actly 100 years ago. He out­lined Sher­man’s march in de­tail and de­scribed many strate­gic po­si­tions held by both Fed­er­als and Con­fed­er­ates in the July and Au­gust move­ments.

Vis­i­tors at the Thurs­day meet­ing in­clude Werner Von Gru­en­hut of Ox­ford, who re­cently moved to our county to op­er­ate a dry kiln in­dus­try, and an in­ter-club four-some from McDonough – Paul Cates, D. P. Reevs, John Craig and Jack Cupit.
