I-20 work ‘cancelled’ for tax-free weekend
Drivers on I-20 might have noticed a distinct lack of construction this weekend. Work on eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 scheduled this weekend was “cancelled” Fri- day, according to Georgia Department of Transportation press secretary David Spear.
The project consists of resurfacing the two right lanes of I-20 eastbound between Conyers and Covington, as well as work on the eastbound exit and entrance ramps at Almon Road.
It was originally scheduled to continue as planned, despite being tax-free weekend in Georgia. Spear said the rainy forecast was to blame for the weekend’s construction delay. The project will resume after this weekend.
