GPC New­ton stu­dents el­i­gi­ble for schol­ar­ships

From a schol­ar­ship for com­mu­nity ser­vice to schol­ar­ships for ed­u­ca­tion ma­jors to a health­care schol­ar­ship specif­i­cally for Walton County res­i­dents, stu­dents en­rolled at the Ge­or­gia Perime­ter Col­lege New­ton Cam­pus can find ways to help fund their ed­u­ca­tion — but first, they have to ap­ply.

The fol­low­ing are a few of the schol­ar­ships avail­able for stu­dents ex­clu­sively en­rolled on the GPC New­ton Cam­pus:

DAF­FODIL FES­TI­VAL

Cri­te­ria: Cur­rent GPC stu­dents en­rolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) on the New­ton Cam­pus.

Must Sub­mit:

-Schol­ar­ship Ap­pli­ca­tion

-Es­say (250 words min­i­mum) de­scrib­ing your com­mu­nity

-and vol­un­teer ser­vice.

-Two let­ters of rec­om­men­da­tion: One from a GPC fac­ulty mem­ber or high school teacher and one from a com­mu­nity leader. The let­ters must be signed by the rec­om­menders.

-Have a 2.5 or higher GPA Schol­ar­ship Amount: $500 for tu­ition, fees, books, and ed­u­ca­tional ex­penses.

JU­NIUS AND SARAH GAR­RI­SON SCHOL­AR­SHIP

Cri­te­ria: Cur­rent GPC stu­dents en­rolled at the New­ton cam­pus ma­jor­ing in Ed­u­ca­tion with plans to teach Math­e­mat­ics in high school or col­lege.

Must sub­mit:

-Schol­ar­ship Ap­pli­ca­tion

-Un­of­fi­cial aca­demic tran­script

-Es­say (100 words or less) de­scrib­ing why you have cho­sen the field of ed­u­ca­tion. A let­ter of rec­om­men­da­tion from a GPC fac­ulty mem­ber. The let­ter must be signed by the rec­om­mender.

-Have a 2.8 or higher GPA Schol­ar­ship Amount: $250 for tu­ition, fees, and books.

JEWEL V. HI­ATT AND SA­MUEL AB­NER HI­ATT SCHOL­AR­SHIP

Cri­te­ria: Stu­dents on the New­ton Cam­pus who have suc­cess­fully com­pleted at least 30 credit hours at GPC and have de­clared Ed­u­ca­tion as a ma­jor and are cur­rently pro­vid­ing ser­vice to the com­mu­nity.

Must sub­mit:

-Schol­ar­ship Ap­pli­ca­tion -Un­of­fi­cial aca­demic tran­script

-A let­ter of rec­om­men­da­tion from a GPC fac­ulty mem­ber or a non-re­lated men­tor, em­ployer, min­is­ter or com­mu­nity leader. The let­ter must be signed by the rec­om­mender.

-Have a 3.0 or higher GPA Schol­ar­ship Amount: $750 for tu­ition, fees, books and ed­u­ca­tional ex­penses.

DAWN MAL­TAIS MEMO­RIAL SCHOL­AR­SHIP

Cri­te­ria: Fe­male stu­dents en­rolled on the New­ton Cam­pus who have com­pleted at least 10 credit hours at GPC and are en­rolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) dur­ing the Fall 2014 se­mes­ter.

Must sub­mit:

-Schol­ar­ship Ap­pli­ca­tion

-Un­of­fi­cial aca­demic tran­script

-2 let­ters of rec­om­men­da­tion (one from a GPC fac­ulty mem­ber and one from a non-re­lated pro­fes­sional or sup­porter). The let­ters must be signed by the rec­om­menders.

-Have a 2.5 or higher GPA Schol­ar­ship Amount: $500 for tu­ition, fees, books and liv­ing ex­penses.

WALTON COUNTY HEALTH CARE FOUN­DA­TION AS­SIS­TANCE FUND

Cri­te­ria: Cur­rent GPC stu­dents ma­jor­ing in Bi­ol­ogy, Chem­istry, Pre-Health Ca­reers, Nurs­ing, or Den­tal Hy­giene who per­ma­nently re­side in Walton County, Ge­or­gia.

Must sub­mit:

Ap­pli­ca­tion (please use the Walton County Health Care Foun­da­tion Ap­pli­ca­tion avail­able on our web­site) and sub­mit all doc­u­men­ta­tion re­quired by the ap­pli­ca­tion.

No min­i­mum GPA Schol­ar­ship Amount: max­i­mum of $1,500 per aca­demic year for tu­ition, fees, books and ed­u­ca­tional ex­penses.
