Walter S. Avery Dies Monday in Atlanta
Mr. Walter S. Avery, 59 years of age, a prominent citizen of Covington, and a native of the Rocky Plains district of this county, died Monday morning in an Atlanta hospital, following an illness of several weeks.
When a young man, Mr. Avery married Miss Chloe Davis, of Rocky Plains and resided in that community until nine years ago, when he moved with his family to North Covington.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the Covington Presbyterian church by Rev. S.A. Gates with interment in the city cemetery.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. C B. Branham, of Atlan- ta; Mrs. W. D. Stokes, Mrs. Grier Holifield, abeth of Covington; three sons, W. Glenn of Statesville, N.C; S. Howard and R. Earl, of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Will Allen , of Covington , and two brothers, W.E., of Decatur, and N. S., of Covington.
J.C. Harwell and Son, funeral directors, were in charge.
