The Covington News - - OPINION -

If in your travels around the Newton Community and the Social Circle community and you have been ashamed to see the trash that litters our highways and byways, next Saturday is your chance to not only get involved but in the process do something positive for our communities

The Keep Covington Beautiful committee will be celebrating the Great American Cleanup by sending volunteers out to pick up trash and other debris accumulated over the winter months.

Groups and individuals are encouraged to participate by filling out a form at www. kcnb.biz. Registration is requested by March 18th, and free T-Shirts will be given to the first 750 entrants.

Last year 50,000 pounds of trash was picked up by volunteers like you.

The kickoff for this community event will be Saturday March 28th at the Longhorn restaurant located on 258 in the city at 9:00 a.m. Biscuits will be provided, as well as gloves and trash bags.

In Social Circle, the cleanup kickoff will start at on Saturday the 28th at 8:00 a.m. at the Community Room of the public safety building. Biscuits and coffee will be provided.

Both of these events will be held rain or shine, so plan to take some time to help us make our community litter free again.
