Best wishes to Tom Garrett

The Covington News - - OPINION -

This past week it was announced that Tom Garrett, the current Newton County Manager will be stepping down to take a position with Barrow County.

Before he was appointed to the County Manager position Garrett was in in charge of transportation in the county.

When Garrett was appointed to the County Manager job he actually took on a position that through no fault of his own was destined not to succeed.

It is unfortunate that Garrett was never given the full opportunity to succeed here because in our dealings with him we found him to be honorable and capable; much more so then the elected and appointed officials that he answered to.

We wish him well in his new assignment in Barrow we have no doubt that he will succeed in his new position as Public Works Director.
