Mrs. Hazel Hag­gard Cordell

Hazel Hag­gard Cordell, of Cov­ing­ton, passed away April 19, 2015, at the age of 89. Born to Charles and Wil­lie Mae (Parks) Hag­gard, Hazel at­tended school in Por­terdale. She lived next door to the school and could run home at re­cess time to get fresh baked sweet pota­toes, one for the teacher and one for her­self. This was a happy time for her. An em­ployee of Sci­en­tific At­lanta, she wired the first printed cir­cuit board ever to be wired in At­lanta. She was pre­ceded in death by her chil­dren, John Robert Rus­sell and Jack­que­lyn Ann Rus­sell.

Sur­vivors in­clude her sons and daugh­ters-in-law, Larry Wil­burn and Donna Rus­sell, Charles Sa­muel (Chuck) and Rhonda Rus­sell, Harold Zachary (Zach) and Cathy Rus­sell; as well as sev­eral grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren. Hazel once wrote, “Times were not al­ways easy, but praise the Lord for the bless­ings of chil­dren. I am proud of all of them and their achieve­ments.”

A Grave­side Ser­vice was held Wed­nes­day, April 22, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Cov­ing­ton City Ceme­tery, Davis Street, in Cov­ing­ton, with Pas­tor Tommy Ross of­fi­ci­at­ing.
