Man killed in NCSO shoot­ing had a gun

One of the two men shot by New­ton County Sher­iff’s deputies July 10 in the Elling­ton sub­di­vi­sion off of Brown Bridge Road died at an area hos­pi­tal.

Ac­cord­ing to the Ge­or­gia Bureau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion, the de­ceased, Fred­die Blue, 20, was one of four sus­pects in a sus­pi­cious ve­hi­cle trav­el­ing on Brown Bridge Road Fri­day evening. Deon­dre Ramey, 18, who was also in the ve­hi­cle, was ar­rested on a vi­o­la­tion of pro­ba­tion charge. Another pas­sen­ger “who was shot was treated and re­leased from the hos­pi­tal,” ac­cord­ing to GBI Public In­for­ma­tion Of­fi­cer Sherry Lang. the fourth sub­ject in the car was not in­jured.

Lang said Blue was sit­ting in the back seat of the ve­hi­cle, and did pos­sess a gun.

Ac­cord­ing to Lang, NCSO deputies

spot­ted the car af­ter re­ceiv­ing sev­eral com­plaints of a sus­pi­cious ve­hi­cle in the area.

“The ve­hi­cle they stopped matched the de­scrip­tion of the sus­pi­cious ve­hi­cle,” Lang said.

Ac­cord­ing to NCSO Sgt. Cort­ney Mor­ri­son, a deputy con­ducted the traf­fic stop on Brown Bridge Road near Charleston Place be­tween 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

“As a re­sult of the traf­fic stop a sit­u­a­tion en­sued and deputies dis­charged their weapons at two sus­pects, who were in­jured,”

Mor­ri­son told The News that no deputies were in­jured.

Lang said a thor­ough in­ves­ti­ga­tion will be con­ducted to de­ter­mine what oc­curred and when the in­ves­ti­ga­tion is com­plete it will be turned over to the dis­trict at­tor­ney for any ac­tion she deems ap­pro­pri­ate.
