BRIEFS Cov­ing­ton man sus­pected of mur­der ar­rested in Cony­ers

The New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice (NCSO) ar­rested Deante Hall, 36, on Flat Shoals Road in Cony­ers, Ge­or­gia on Fri­day, July 29, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease.

Through a se­ries of in­ter­views, the NCSO iden­ti­fied Hall, 36, of Cov­ing­ton as the al­leged per­pe­tra­tor in the shoot­ing of Tony But­ler, 29, of At­lanta that oc­curred on July 6 at 403 Gross Lake Park­way. While deputies were on the look­out for a black Dodge pickup truck be­lieved to be in­volved in the in­ci­dent, the wounded But­ler was found in­side of the truck dur­ing a traf­fic stop. He was trans­ported to a nearby hospi­tal where he was later pro­nounced dead.

The NCSO and the U.S Mar­shals South­east Re­gional Fugi­tive Task Force had been on the look­out for Hall, whose last known lo­ca­tion was at the Five Points Marta Sta­tion in At­lanta on July 7.

Hall’s ar­rest was made with as­sis­tance from the NCSO Crime Sup­pres­sion Unit, NCSO Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Di­vi­sion, U.S Mar­shals South­east Re­gional Fugi­tive Task Force and Rock­dale County Sher­iff’s Of­fice.
