NCSO iden­ti­fies, ar­rests mur­der sus­pect

The New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice (NCSO) Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Di­vi­sion (CID) has ar­rested a sus­pect in the mur­der in Julien R. Wyant, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease Mon­day.

CID, War­rant Di­vi­sion and U.S. Mar­shals South­east Re­gional Task Force ar­rested Nathaniel L. Barnes, 25, dur­ing a traf­fic stop on July 15 and iden­ti­fied him as the sus­pect in Wyant’s mur­der.

Wyant, 24, of Cony­ers was found dead on July 4 at the Or­chard Cove Apart­ment Com­plex, 403 Gross Lake Park­way in Cov­ing­ton, af­ter deputies were dis­patched to the area in re­sponse to re­ports of a per­son shot.

Ac­cord­ing to the NCSO, Barnes has been charged with mur­der. Other charges are pend­ing.
