Taste of New­ton high­lights area restau­rant es­tab­lish­ments

Thou­sands at­tended the an­nual Taste of New­ton at the Porter Me­mo­rial Gym Thurs­day night.

The event is the Cov­ing­ton-New­ton County Cham­ber of Com­merce’s an­nual fundraiser. Thurs­day night more than a thou­sand peo­ple at­tended, pur­chas­ing tick­ets worth $1 each to spend at booths hosted by area restau­rants and busi­nesses.

Among the restau­rants were Bradley’s BBQ, Mys­tic Grill, Ir­ish Bred Pub, Mil­lazo’s Restau­rant, Jimmy John’s Sand­wiches, Johnny’s Pizza, Bread and But­ter and more. Among the busi­nesses were Steel Co., Town Square Olive Oil, the Oaks Course, New­ton Fed­eral and United banks.

Food items such as shrimp and grits, chili, pita sand­wiches, cook­ies, tacos and more were served, while mu­sic played and door prizes were given away.
