Hang tags avail­able only at fire ser­vices start­ing in March

Ve­hi­cle hang tags for the New­ton County Trash Col­lec­tion Con­ve­nience Cen­ters will be avail­able for pur­chase only at the New­ton County Fire Ser­vices Head­quar­ters, ef­fec­tive March 1.

Since Septem­ber, the tags were avail­able for pur­chase at the fire ser­vices head­quar­ters and the New­ton County Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­ity. How­ever, tags can no longer be pur­chased at the wa­ter and sew­er­age au­thor­ity af­ter 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 28.

New­ton County res­i­dents can con­tinue buy­ing their tags at the fire ser­vices head­quar­ters, 4136 High­way 278, Covington be­tween the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Checks and credit cards only will be ac­cepted, and pur­chasers must show a valid proof of res­i­dency in New­ton County, such as driver’s li­cense.

The ve­hi­cle tags are $50 and are good through June 30 for use at any of the county’s 11 con­ve­nience cen­ters.

The con­ve­nience cen­ters are open Tues­day through Fri­day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Satur­day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. New­ton County’s con­ve­nience cen­ters are at Piper Road and High­way 36, By­pass and Flat Shoals roads, Se­wart VFD, Stone Road, High­way 212 and High­way 162, Hazel­brand Road, McGi­boney Road, Oak Hill Road, Adams Cir­cle and Dial Mill Road.
