The New­ton County His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety has a new ex­hibit at the old court­house fea­tur­ing se­lected works of lo­cal artist Mitchell “Mitch” Wright. All are wel­come to view the ex­hibit dur­ing nor­mal court­house hours of op­er­a­tion, through the end of June.

Mod­els wanted: Kids, young adults, high school­ers, men and women and se­nior cit­i­zens. If you have tal­ent, dance rou­tines, step­pers, singers and rap­pers are also needed. NewRock Prep Sports Academy will host a com­mu­nity day for cit­i­zens of New­ton and Rock­dale Coun­ties from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be more than 30 ven­dors with bouncy houses, food, car wash, games and more. For more in­for­ma­tion call 770-285-4524.

Satur­day, June 3

The New­ton Preg­nancy Re­source Cen­ter will host the Born to Run 5K start­ing at 8 a.m. at First Bap­tist Church of Cov­ing­ton. The pur­pose of this 1st an­nual 5K event in down­town Cov­ing­ton is “to sup­port the work of New­ton Preg­nancy Re­source Cen­ter, which pro­vides sup­port and re­sources to women and fam­i­lies strug­gling with an un­planned preg­nancy”. Col­or­ful short-sleeved cot­ton shirts will be given to all en­trants (not in­clud­ing those that sign up un­der the no shirt op­tion).
