Cov­ing­ton Po­lice probe armed rob­bery

In­ves­ti­ga­tors with the Cov­ing­ton Po­lice Depart­ment (CPD) are look­ing for the two peo­ple who robbed the Dol­lar Gen­eral on Hwy. 278 at gun­point Mon­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to the CPD in­ci­dent re­port, two males en­tered the store at 9:58 p.m. July 10 armed with hand­guns and ap­proached a fe­male em­ployee as she was walk­ing to­ward the back of the store where another em­ployee was lo­cated.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­port, while one sus­pect was walk­ing both em­ploy­ees back to the front of the store, the other sus­pect ran out the front door of the store and turned left.

When one of the em­ploy­ees had trou­ble open­ing the cash reg­is­ter, the re­main­ing sus­pect re­port­edly yelled at her, “Hurry up or I will shoot you in the head.”

That sus­pect then left the store with an undis­closed amount of money in the same di­rec­tion as the first sus­pect.

One sus­pect was de­scribed as a black male, pos­si­bly 5’7” wear­ing a black hoodie, red ban­dana, and black shoes. The other is de­scribed as a black male, pos­si­bly 5’9” wear­ing a black hoodie, blue ban­dana, sweat pants with a white stripe on the side of them and black and white tennis shoes. Ac­cord­ing to the re­port, both ap­peared to be slim built, in their late teens and were wear­ing sun­glasses.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­port, po­lice searched the area but were un­able to lo­cate the sus­pects.
