Bar­rett to run for Por­terdale Coun­cil Post 3

Por­terdale res­i­dent Ryan Bar­rett has an­nounced he is run­ning for Por­terdale City Coun­cil Post 3.

Orig­i­nally from Win­der, Bar­rett Win­der-Bar­row High School and was pres­i­dent of the stu­dent body his se­nior year. He at­tended Colum­bus State Univer­sity, serv­ing as state pres­i­dent for two terms of Ge­or­gia Health Oc­cu­pa­tion Stu­dents of Amer­ica while in col­lege. Ryan is an Emer­gency Room Spe­cial­ist on the staff of Clearview Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter and for­mally on the staff at Pied­mont New­ton Med­i­cal Cen­ter. He has worked in trauma cen­ters and open-heart step down.

Ryan has served for two years on Por­terdale Plan­ning and Zon­ing Com­mit­tee and is chair. He is ded­i­cated to the con­tin­ued suc­cess of the place he calls home.

“Where else can you walk a few houses down the street to sit on the mayor’s front porch to dis­cuss an is­sue, only to walk equally in the op­po­site direc­tion to en­joy a nice day of fish­ing or kayak­ing on the river?” he said. “City ser­vices at your fin­ger­tips, a po­lice force that will re­spond in min­utes, walk to down­town – all sur­rounded by aes­thet­ics that only a small vil­lage can of­fer.”
